ESTJ Characteristics

ESTJ - The Overseer/Supervisor

Carl Jung’s theory of psychological types suggests that each person is “wired” with different personal preferences, habits, and tendencies. Some people are known to be extraverted while others tend to keep to themselves more, known as introverts; some are “thinkers” while others are “feelers”, and so on. There are 16 distinct personality types, and each belongs to one of four temperaments: Protectors (SJ), Creators (SP), Intellectuals (NT), and Visionaries (NF.) People who are an ESTJ personality type are known as “the overseer.”

Personality Traits

ESTJs are responsible, logical, norm-following hard workers. The efforts of ESTJs are usually carried out in a practical and structured manner. They are decisive, loyal, and follow tradition. An ESTJ personality type enjoys being in charge and often make good supervisors. “ESTJs prefer occupations that require an organized, logical, and practical bent that incorporates an effective use of time and resources. They pay attention to the organization’s hierarchy and use policies and procedures to help them to move the tasks along. They like making decisions and dealing with concrete, specific facts.” –ESTJ, The Enforcer (Lifexplore.)The strong points of ESTJs are that they are enthusiastic, strong-willed, reliable, and good problem solvers.

ESTJs also have areas that they could focus on improvement; they can be materialistic, careless, headstrong, and overly dominant in a relationship. Since ESTJs are highly responsible, they are known to be good long-term and reliable partners.
